Film Photography Course
1 semester (1/2 credit)
grades 9-12
Photography is a studio based course that is designed to introduce and develop basic film photography skills using a variety of processes including traditional and experimental techniques. The history, technical and aesthetic aspects of film photography will all be covered. Students will learn how to use a film camera in manual mode to create a variety of visual effects as well as process negatives and print photographs in the darkroom lab. The basic elements of art and principles of design will be taught with an emphasis on developing the students own creative point of view. Students will be instructed on a variety of hands-on exercises, assignments and techniques to develop a body of work demonstrating their course knowledge. Students will need a 35mm film camera capable of manual operations and a three-ring binder for the course. In the event a student does not have a camera the school will provide one but supplies are limited.
This class is for beginning, intermediate, and advanced students.
